OpenStack Overview dashboard
The OpenStack dashboard provides a top-down overview of an entire OpenStack environment from an OpenStack Cloud entity prospective. The available OpenStack Cloud entities to be selected are reflective of the same OpenStack Cloud entities within the client's BMC Helix Continuous Optimization (HCO) environment.
Within the dashboard the following capacity insights are presented:
- Aggregated Utilization values over the last 30 days for the following metrics: CPU, Memory, and Storage
- Total count of all underlying OpenStack entities related to the selected OpenStack Cloud
- Capacity related metrics displayed in a timeseries chart
- Related Regions placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
- Related Availability Zones placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
- Related Host Aggregates placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
- Related Hypervisors placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
- Related Instances (VMs) placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
- Related Tenants placed in table which displays informational capacity related metrics
Filters
Filters can be found in the upper left portion of the dashboard. The following filters are:
- Cloud → Filters most, if not all, panels to only focus on the specified Cloud selected
- Region → Filters most, if not all, panels to only focus on the specified Region selected
Panels
The OpenStack Dashboard consists of multiple panels that give insight into the capacity and health of the selected OpenStack Cloud entity.
Cloud Summary
A collapsible row that contains the initially curated panels and charts for the selected OpenStack Cloud entity.

Name
Name of the OpenStack Cloud entity.
Entity Count
Displays the total entity counts for all the entities related to the OpenStack Cloud entity:
- Regions
- Host Aggregates
- Availability Zones
- Virtual Clusters - VMware
- Virtual Hosts – VMware
- Virtual Machines - VMware
- Virtual Hosts – KVM
- Virtual Machines – KVM
Type
Entity Type of the OpenStack Cloud entity as defined in BMC Helix Continuous Optimization (BHCO).
CPU, Memory, & Storage Utilization Values
The hourly average datapoints aggregated over the last 30 days. Displayed for the following metrics: CPU, Memory, and Storage
Tags
The tags assigned to the selected OpenStack Cloud entity.
CPU Cores, vCPUs, Overcommit Ratio
A chart that displays the CPU Cores (CPU_NUM), VCPUs (VCPU_NUM), and Overcommit Ratio (VCPU_NUM / CPU_NUM) over time. The time is controlled by the hand time picker in the top right of the dashboard page.
CPU Utilization
A chart that displays the CPU Utilization (CPU_UTIL) over time. The time is controlled by the hand time picker in the top right of the dashboard page.
Memory Utilization
A chart that displays the Memory Utilization (MEM_UTIL) over time. The time is controlled by the hand time picker in the top right of the dashboard page.
Datastore Utilization
A chart that displays the Total Datastore Size (TOTAL_DSTORE_SIZE), Total Datastore Used (TOTAL_DSTORE_USED), Total Ephemeral Disk Provisioned (TOTAL_EPHEMERAL_DISK_PROVISIONED) and Total Ephemeral Disk Size (TOTAL_EPHEMERAL_DISK_SIZE) over time. The time is controlled by the hand time picker in the top right of the dashboard page.
Region Summary
A collapsible row that presents a table of all the associated Regions for the selected OpenStack Cloud entity.
