Dynamic Metrics Analysis



As a tenant administrator, editor, or viewer, you can use the Dynamic Metrics Analysis dashboard to view the number of open events and various metrics of multiple servers and devices from BMC Helix Operations Management. This information helps you to view the performance of different devices and their metrics. For instance, this dashboard can gather data from servers such as Windows, Linux, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and so on. This dashboard adds a new panel for each metric added from the filters.

The dashboard uses the BMC Helix data source and the Metric and Events query types.


Example: View the open events, memory, and CPU usage of a Windows server

John, the tenant administrator, wants to view the number of open events, memory, and disk usage of a Windows server for a given period. He accesses the Dynamic Metrics Analysis dashboard and selects the appropriate Windows servers and metrics from filters to get the data. 

The following image shows the number of open events, memory, and disk usage of a Windows server with sample data:

Note: Annotation data of 500 events visible

You can view the annotation data of 500 events on this dashboard. If you want to view the annotation data of more events, complete the following steps:

  1. Create a copy of this dashboard and save it with a different name.
  2. Open the copied dashboard and click the Dashboard settings icon dashboard_settings_icon.png.
  3. Go to Annotations and click Event.

  4. In the Size field, change the number according to your requirements.

To view the Dynamic Metrics Analysis dashboard

  1. On the navigation pane, hover your mouse over Dashboards dashboard_icon_dec_push.png and click Manage.
  2. Click the Operations Management folder and then click Dynamic Metrics Analysis.

Tip

To quickly open the dashboard from the home page, mark it as a favorite by using the star icon. Additionally, after you open a dashboard, it is available under Recently viewed dashboards on the home page.
