Installation error messages displayed by installation utility
If the installation program encounters a problem during the installation, it displays an error message. Perform the appropriate corrective action.
Error message topic | Corrective action |

Administrative rights | Log out and log back in as an administrator. |
Trouble writing to the webapps directory in your Tomcat home directory | Ensure that the user running the installation has permission to write to that directory. |
Availability of ports | Ensure that the ports that you selected for Tomcat to use are available. Select different ports if necessary. |
LDAP authentication | Ensure that the user name and password are valid in the LDAP server, and that the attributes and other information specified on the LDAP information page are correct. |
Installation fails (during installation of BMC Dashboards for BSM application server) | Start the Tomcat service used with BMC Dashboards for Business Service Management (BMC Dashboards for BSM) if needed and attempt to connect to the BMC Dashboards for BSM administrator console. If you installed a new Tomcat service with Dashboards, the service name is BSM Dashboards Tomcat |
Installation fails (during installation of BMC Atrium DIL) | Review the installation log to see if the following lines appear: C:\BMCSoftware\BMCDashboardsForBSM\DIL\CIS\bin>composite.bat server stop -user admin -password admin Verify that contiguous memory is available on the computer. If the installation of other products has caused the available memory to be fragmented, you may need to uninstall those products before trying the installation again. |
