Obtaining Control-M installation files and documentation

This procedure describes how to obtain the Control-M installation files through EPD, as well as specific installation instructions for the different configurations

Starting with Control-M 9.0.18, every released fix pack is a self-installed image that does not require a base (GA) version. 

Fix pack releases can be installed on either clean machines or as an upgrade to an existing installation that is 9.0.00.100 or later. For more information see Introduction to Control-M installation.

To obtain installation files via EPD

  1. Create a temporary directory where to save downloaded files.

  2. Click http://www.bmc.com/available/epd and follow the instructions on the EPD site until you reach the Download Files page for the relevant product component:

    Warning

    Note

    Fix pack installation files are provided on the Products tab of the base version. For example, installation files for Control-M 9.0.18.200 are provided on the Products tab of version 9.0.18.

    For a typical installation, choose the Control-M/Enterprise Manager package, which contains all necessary product components (Control-M/EM, Control-M/Server, and Control-M/Agent). If, for example, you need to install additional agents on various other platforms, you can download just the Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows package.

  3. On the Products tab, click the relevant installation file and save it in the temporary directory.

    Note

    Patch release (9.0.18.100) and base release (9.0.18) can be found in the Patches tab on EPD.

  4. (UNIX only) Type the following command for the copied installation file to ensure that it has the necessary authorizations:
    chmod +x <installation_file>
  5. Depending on the type of file that you downloaded, do one of the following:
    • Extract the .tar or .zip file in the temporary directory.
    • Burn the .iso file onto a DVD.

You can also obtain the Control-M installation files from your BMC Sales representative by contacting BMC Sales. Contact information is available on the BMC website, at http://www.bmc.com/contacts-locations/. The DVD for this version is associated with product number LPH3S.9.0.18. Refer to this number when ordering or requesting maintenance for this product.
