Integrating with TrueSight Smart Reporting


With TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform, you can generate and administer performance, impact, and event data reports with a simple drag-and-drop action. Reports are generated on the data collected by the TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation.

TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform integrates TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation with YellowFin, a third-party business intelligence and reporting tool. 

To integrate with TrueSight Smart Reporting

  1. Install TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. Only TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform Administrator can perform this task. You can install TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform and TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation on the same system.
    For information about how to install TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform, see  Installing TrueSight Smart Reporting in the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform documentation.


  2. Add TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation as a component in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. Only TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation Administrator can perform this task.

    After you add TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation as a component in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform, the reports and views are automatically imported in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. You can open TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform from the TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automationuser interface. 
    You can add a single TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation instance in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. If you try to add a second TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation, the following message is displayed:

    The component is already registered.
    Perform the following steps to add TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse as a component:

    1. Use the following URL to open the Login page:
      https://<TrueSight Smart Reporting hostname>:<port>/tsr
    2. In the Log in as list, select the TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse administrator.
    3. Click here in the Click here to add a component link. You can see the Add Components page.
      Note: User roles for adding a componentThe TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse Administrator can use the Click here to add a component link to register a component. However, until a component is registered, the TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse Administrator cannot log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting.A TrueSight Smart Reporting Administrator can log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting even if the component is not registered. However, the TrueSight Smart Reporting Administrator cannot add a component.
    4. Select the options as described in the following table:The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.

    5. Click SaveYou can see the component that you added on the Components page. After the component is connected, the value in the Status column changes from Initializing to Connected.

      The Status column displays values according to the registration status of your component. The following statuses are available:
      • Initializing
      • Connected
      • Registration Error
      • Disconnected
      • Deleting
      • Delete Error
      • Updating
      • Update Error


  3. Add the TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation Administrator user in your client organization in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. Only the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform Administrator can perform this task.

    Perform the following steps to add Administrator in the Client Organization in TrueSight Smart Reporting:

    Failed to execute the [excerpt-include] macro.

  4. Refresh the cached filter list to ensure that the latest values are reflected in the reports.  This needs to be done when new users are added to TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation through ETL.
    Only the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform Administrator can refresh the cached filter list. 

    Perform the following steps to refresh the cached filter list in TrueSight Smart Reporting:
    1. Use the following URL to open the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform login page:
      https://<hostname>:port/tsr 
    2. In the Log in as list, select the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Admin.
    3. In the User Name and Password fields, enter the administrator credentials.
    4. Click LOG IN.
    5. In the left navigation pane, click Administration >Admin Console.
    6. Select the TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation Administrator in the Multi-tenant Login list and click Login.
    7. In the right navigation pane, click Administration >Schedule Management to display the list of all the schedules.
    8. Filter the list by Access Filter type.
    9. Click Select All to ensure that all access filters are selected, and then click Run now. Ensure that all access filters have been refreshed in the current date and time. If any filter still shows an earlier date and time in the Last Run column, select that filter and click Run Now again.
    10. The latest data is now reflected in your reports. 
  5. Specify global settings in TrueSight Smart Reporting to ensure correct alignment in your reports. Only the TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform Administrator can modify the content settings. 

    Perform the following steps to update the content settings in TrueSight Smart Reporting:

To modify TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse as a component

If you are modifying any of the following details, you need to modify TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation component information in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform:

  • Host Name/IP Address 
  • Port

Do the following:

  1. Use the following URL to open the Login page:
    https://<TrueSight Smart Reporting hostname>:<port>/tsr
  2. In the Log in as field, select the component administrator user.
  3. Enter the component administrator user name and password, and click Login. The Components page appears.
  4. Click the Edit icon edit_component_icon.png for the component that you want to edit.
  5. In the Edit Component page, modify the values of the component. Ensure that you add correct details while editing a component to avoid errors.
  6. Click Save to save your changes.

To delete TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse as a component

You can delete TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation component information from TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform.

A component can be deleted in one of the following scenarios:

  • The component is in the Connected state. The component administrator or TrueSight Smart Reporting administrator can delete the component. The TrueSight Smart Reporting details are automatically deleted from the component.
  • The component is disconnected. Only the TrueSight Smart Reporting administrator can delete the component. The TrueSight Smart Reporting details must be manually deleted from the component.

Do the following:

  1. Use the following URL to open the Login page:
    https://<TrueSight Smart Reporting hostname>:<port>/tsr
  2. In the Log in as field, select the component administrator user.
  3. Enter the component administrator user name and password, and click Login. The Components page appears.
  4. Click the Delete icon delete_component_icon.png for the component that you want to delete.
  5. On the Delete Confirmation window, click Delete.

To get the latest views of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse in TrueSight Smart Reporting

When you import the latest content of your component in TrueSight Smart Reporting, the existing out-of-the box reporting content is replaced by the latest content. The customized reports are not replaced, and remain unchanged.

Use the following URL to open the Login page:Do the following:

  1. If you have made any changes to the out-of-the-box content of your component, save a backup copy of the content with a different name.
  1. Use the following URL to open the Login page:
    https://<TrueSight Smart Reporting hostname>:<port>/tsr
  2. In the Log in as field, select the component administrator user.
  3. Enter the component administrator user name and password, and click Login. The Components page appears.
  4. Click the Update Content icon update_content_icon.png for the component whose content you want to update.
  5. In the Update Content window, click Yes. A success message appears when the content is updated.
