Understanding data transfer scenarios


TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation uses extract, transform, and load (ETL) to transfer data from the TrueSight Server Automation database to the reports data warehouse. Data transfers are defined using scenarios that you can schedule to run at specified times or run on demand. 

TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation includes a default set of scenarios. Most scenarios correspond to the data groups in the report data and transfer data for those data groups. Other scenarios, called parent scenarios, transfer data that is essential for successfully running the report data group scenarios (or child scenarios). The parent scenarios must run before their child scenarios. The scenario execution script runs scenarios in the correct sequence. 

TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation also includes a default set of property files that correspond to each report data group. A property file contains the scenario for the relevant report data group and the parent scenarios that must run before the child scenario. Property files enable you to use the scenario execution script to transfer data from a specific data group instead of all report data groups.
