Changing the TrueSight Smart Reporting session timeout duration


A TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform session times out if:

  • The connection to the data source times out.
  • The TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform user interface times out.
  • The Components page times out.

You can change the timeout duration for each type of timeout.

Changing the data source connection timeout

Do the following:

  1. Use the following URL to open the TrueSight Smart Reporting login page:
    https://<TrueSight Smart Reporting hostname>:port/tsr 
  2. In the Log in as list, select TrueSight Smart Reporting - Admin.
  3. In the User Name and Password fields, enter the TrueSight Smart Reporting - PlatformTrueSight Smart Reporting administrator credentials.
  4. Click LOG IN.
  5. In the upper right corner, click your profile and then click Admin Console.
  6. Click the menu icon menu_icon.pngin the upper left corner, and then click Administration > Admin Console.
  7. Click Data Sources.
  8. Click the data source whose timeout you want to increase.
  9. Click Connection Pool.
  10. In the Timeout field, change the number of seconds for the datasource timeout.
  11. Click Save.

Configuring the TrueSight Smart Reporting user interface timeout

Do the following:

  1. Open the installdir>/appserver/conf/web.xml file.
  2. Add the configuration value in minutes in the following section:

    <session-config> <session-timeout>30</session-timeout> </session-config>

    where 30 is the configurable value in minutes.

    Keep the value blank if you do not want to configure a timeout.

Changing the Components page timeout

Do the following:

  1. Open the <installdir>/appserver/conf/security.properties file.
  2. Change the value for the session.timeout.seconds property. The default value is 1800.
  3. Restart the TrueSightSmartReporting service. Do the following:
    • (Windows) Restart the TrueSightSmartReporting service.

      Note: TrueSight Smart Reporting in non-English locales

      In non-English locales, the TrueSightSmartReporting service appears as the Yellowfin service.

    • (Linux) Navigate to the <install_dir>/appserver/bin/ folder and run the following commands in the given order:
      ./shutdown.sh
      ./startup.sh
