(HP-UX) Installation causes RPC exception

If you attempt to install HP-UX software using the Agent Mount payload source option and the swinstall command, an RPC exception might be generated. This error indicates that the swinstall version currently installed on the HP-UX system does not support a payload source retrieved through an NFS mount. To work around this issue, do one of the following:

  • Check to see if HP has a patch for swinstall for the OS version you have. If you install the patch, the error should go away.
  • Use one of the other payload source options instead of the Agent Mount option.
