Sample Inventory report with groups and calculations
This example demonstrates how to create an Inventory report that shows the last restart time of a server and the duration for which a server has been running since the last restart.
To create an Inventory report with groups and calculations
- Launch Query Studio from the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation portal.
- Select a package (for example, BladeLogic) from the list of available packages.
- Click the Run Report link.
- Click the Preview with No Data link.
- Click the Insert Data link.
- Open the Inventory folder and drag the following query items to the right pane:
- Server/OS Name
- Server/OS Version
- Server/Server Name
- Common/Hardware Information/Machine Summary/Last Boot Time
- Group the report by the OS Name and OS Version columns.
- Apply the following calculation to the Last Boot Time column:
Current time - Last Boot Time - Rename the Current time - Last Boot Time column as the Server uptime column.
- Format the Server Uptime column as follows:
- Right-click the column and select Format Data.
- From the Category list, select Interval.
- Select the following format: 1 23:45:12
- Click OK.
- Sort the Server uptime column in descending order.
- Click the Run Report link.
- Click the Run with All Data link.
- On the Prompt page, select the required option (for information about options, see Running an Inventory report).
- Save the report.
