Installing

BladeLogic Portal is a web-based application. End users do not have to install any software; they can access the portal through supported browsers.

For administrators, use the following steps to set up a BladeLogic Portal environment.

Platform	Steps
Microsoft Windows	Download the installation files. Review the minimum hardware and software requirements. Enable web services in BMC Server Automation. Install the portal on Windows. This step also sets up a SQL Server database. You have the option of setting up a SQL Server database manually. Optionally, provision the BladeLogic Portal server with a trusted certificate.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux	Download the installation files. Review the minimum hardware and software requirements. Enable web services in BMC Server Automation. Install the portal on Linux.This step also sets up an Oracle database. You have the option of setting up an Oracle database manually. Optionally, provision the BladeLogic Portal server with a trusted certificate.

Installation as part of the BladeLogic RDS

If you are using the BMC BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack (BladeLogic RDS) for Servers to deploy a BMC Server Automation environment, BladeLogic Portal is included by default in the environment that is installed.
