Installing products for intelligent server automation

This topic describes the installation tasks required for the use case.

BMC BladeLogic Server Automation

Install the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Application Server.

For Microsoft Windows, see "Installing the Application Server, Provisioning Server, and Network Shell" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide.

For UNIX, see "Installing all BMC BladeLogic server components" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide.

At least one server must be added to the list of servers managed by this Application Server.

Install the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation console where you expect to install BMC BladeLogic Integration to Atrium.
For Windows, see "Installing the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Console and Network Shell" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide.

For UNIX, see "Installing the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Console and Network Shell" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide. 

Warning

Note

To run BMC Atrium Explorer, you must also install the Adobe Flash Player application on the console.

BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation

8.1

Install BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation. This product is necessary to obtain data from BMC BladeLogic Server Automation. See the following documents:

BMC Remedy AR System

Install BMC Remedy AR System. See the BMC Remedy Action Request System Installation Guide.

BMC Atrium Core

Install the following BMC Atrium Core components:

BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration

8.1

After installing the preceding products, install BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration. See the BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration Implementation Guide.

The computer where you are installing BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration must meet the following requirements:

  • The computer must be running one of the following operating systems:
    • Windows 2003 Server 32-bit or 64-bit, SP2 or later
    • Windows XP, SP 2 or later
  • The computer must have a network connection to BMC Remedy AR System and the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation database.
  • The BMC BladeLogic Server Automation console, version 8.1, must be installed.
