Installing the Azure Provider


The following topics describe how to install the Azure Provider and verify the installation:

Before you begin

Before you install the Azure Provider, ensure that the following conditions exist:

  • You have downloaded the Azure Provider installer file from BMC Communities.
  • The following BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack components are running when you install the Azure Provider:
    • Cloud Platform Manager
    • BMC Remedy Action Request System Server (BMC AR System Server)
  • You have the same OS (Microsoft Windows or Linux) in the computer from where the installer is being run and the computer where BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack components are installed.
  • You have the following privileges on the computer on which you want to run the installer and on which the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack components are installed:
    • (Microsoft Windows) Administrator
    • (Linux) root
  • BMC Server Automation Network Shell (NSH) is installed and the RSCD agent is running on the computer on which you want to run the installer.
  • NSH is installed and the RSCD agent is running on the computer on which the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack components are installed.
  • You have validated the high availability (HA) configuration properties before running the installer in an HA environment.

To install the Azure Provider

  1. At the command prompt, run the following command to start the installation:
    • (Microsoft Windows, logged on as an Administrator) setup.cmd
    • (Linux, logged on as root) setup.sh
  2. On the Welcome page, shown in the following figure, click Next.

  3. Review the license agreement, shown in the following figure, then select I agree to the terms of license agreement and click Next.

  4. Review the Azure Provider Installation Prerequisites window, shown in the following figure, and ensure that the installation requirements are met:

  5. Select I have read the prerequisites, and click Next.
  6. In the BMC AR System Server connection inputs window, shown in the following figure, specify the BMC AR System Server name and user credentials, and click Next:

  7. In the Cloud Platform Manager connection inputs window, specify the required details, and click Next:

    • Name of the server on which the Cloud Platform Manager is installed
    • Cloud Platform Manager user credentials
    • Path to where the Cloud Platform Manager is installed

  8. On the Installation Preview page, click Next 
  9. Read the warning related to stopping the BMC_CSM service of the Cloud Platform Manager, and click Next.
  10. On the Installation Summary page, click View Log to review any messages.
  11. To exit the installer, click Done.

To verify the installation

  1. In the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window, and select Providers.
  2. Click Register plus_button.gif.
  3. In the Register Provider window, verify that the Azure provider type is shown in the Provider Type list.
