The Login Menu

This menu opens an xterm window for logging into a remote host or performing other system functions.

You can use this option to log in to the selected computer using your own account to access personal files or other information from the computer.

  1. To log in to the selected computer through PATROL, perform the following steps:Choose Login from the COMPUTER application menu. An xterm window is opened for the PATROL global or local user account defined for the computer. If no user account has been defined, PATROL uses the same user account to open the window as you used when you started PATROL.
  2. Access the account definition window to change the user account by choosing Customize > User Name/Password from the COMPUTER application menu.

The account you specify in the account definition window is the account PATROL uses to execute tasks (including recovery actions) on the computer. If you want to use another account but do not want to change the account PATROL uses to execute tasks, choose Login from the COMPUTER application menu and then use the UNIX su command to log in to the desired account.

To access this menu, choose Login from the COMPUTER application class menu. For information on how to access application class menus, refer to Accessing-KM-Commands-and-InfoBoxes.
