Viewing and exporting the License Usage - Consumption Data report


The License Usage - Consumption Data report displays a the monthly average of the consumption data usage of the following components in your environment:

  • Third-party events
  • Data streams
  • Cloud streams
  • Sentry streams
  • Serverless streams (available from Presentation Server version 11.3.03)
You can generate a usage report to view data until 23:59:59 of the previous day.

Prerequisites for viewing consumption data reports

To view consumption data reports, make sure that:

  • At a minimum, you have installed:
    • TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.01
    • TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server 11.3.01
    • PATROL Agent 11.0 or later.
  • You have configured at least one TrueSight Infrastructure Management component on the TrueSight console.
  • You have one of the following roles to access the usage reports:
    • Super Admin
    • Tenant Admin
    • Administrator

To view and export the consumption data details

  1. From the TrueSight console, select License Usage>Consumption Data.

  2. Select a tenant from the Tenant list. 
    By default, the All option is selected. If you select All, you can see the consumption data for all tenants.
  3. Perform one of the following actions:

    • Click Month Period and select one of the following options:
      • Last month. This indicates last calendar month. For example, if you run a report on November 5, the report is generated from 1 October to 31 October.
      • Last 3 months. This indicates the last 3 calendar months. For example, if you run a report on November 5, the report is generated from 1 August to 31 October.
      • Last 6 months. This indicates the last 6 calendar months. For example, if you run a report on November 5, the report is generated from 1 May to 31 October.
      • Last 9 months. This indicates the last 9 calendar months. For example, if you run a report on November 5, the report is generated from 1 February to 31 October.
      • Last 12 months. This indicates the last 12 calendar months. For example, if you run a report on November 5, 2017, the report is generated from 1 October 2016 to 31 October 2017.
        Once you select an option, you can see the applicable start month and the end month below the list box.
    • Select the Start Month button, and select a start month and an end month for the report. 
      The report is generated from the first day of the month that you select in the Start Month field, to the last day of the month that you select in the End Date field. If you select the current month in the End Month field, the report is generated from the first day of the start month till yesterday. Make sure that:
      • In the Start Month field, select the current or an earlier month.
      • In the End Month field, select the same month as the start date, or a later month. 
  4. Click Generate Report to view the consumption data for the tenant and the months that you selected.

If only a single tenant is present in Remedy Single Sign-On (RSSO), the Tenant list on the License Usage - Consumption Data page displays the tenant name, and is disabled. In the Tenant list, the All option is not available. When you generate a report for the tenant, only the Usage Summary - <tennant_name> table is generated. The Usage Summary - All table is not generated.

To download the report

You can download the report as a PDF or a CSV file. After generating the report, click the  icon, and click PDF or CSV to export the report to the desired format. The PDF and CSV files display all the summary and detail reports that are available for each tenant for the selected time range. If the data for a component is tampered with or damaged, the PDF and CSV files display the following message above the component that has tampered data:

Warning: Some data on this report might have been manually modified.
You can see the same message on the Consumption Data page above the component that has tampered data.

To customize the retention period for Third-Party Events

The default retention period for the consumption data is 800 days. You can customize the retention period for each component.

  1. Open the installation_directory/pw/custom/pronto/conf/pronet.conf file. The file is available on the computer where the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server is installed.

  2. Make changes according to the following table:

    ComponentProperty to be modified
    Event Data

    pronet.consumption.prune.eventConsRetentionDays=800

    Change 800 to the value that you want.


    Note

    The minimum value for this property for all components must be 400 days. If you set a lower value, 400 will be used.

  3. Perform one of the following steps:
    • From the command prompt, run the following command to reload the properties in the pronet.conf file:
      pw jproperties reload
    • From the command prompt, run the following commands to stop and restart the TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server:
      1. pw system stop
      2. pw system start
