Resolving weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman public key issue

If you come across the Diffie-Hellman public key issue error message in the latest Google Chrome and Mozzila Firefox browsers, you should perform the tasks described below to resolve the vulnerability.

Resolution: Append additional stronger ciphers to Tomcat server ciphers list to support the HTTPS connections

Note

Before following the procedure given below, create a copy of the server.xml file.

  1. Open the server.xml file present in the tomcat conf directory in BMC Remedy Mid Tier.
  2. Navigate to the Connector setting section and locate the following snippet.

    <Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true"
    maxThreads="150" scheme="https" secure="true"
    clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS"
    ciphers="SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5,SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,SSL_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA,
    SSL_DHE_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA, SSL_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA"
  3. At the end of the snippet append the following additional stronger ciphers.

    TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA256,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA256,
    TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA256,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA

The new Connector setting section should look like below:

4. Restart the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On server.
