VSCAN SMMSYSxx parameters
Use the SMMSYSxx parameters in the following table to tune VSCAN collection performance and to specify collection data set attributes.
VSCAN parameters
Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
PDSE_USED=YES | NO | Y | N | Specifies whether to calculate the true PDSE percent used value in views, in policy interval collections, and in processing of any AUTODS commands |
PKG_DSP2=YES | NO | Y | N | Indicates whether a second dataspace will be created and used by VTOC Scan collection |
VSCAN_DCLAS=dataClass | Specifies the data class used by the VTOC Scan temporary data set |
VSCAN_DIR=YES | Y | NO | N | Indicates whether the VTOC scan should maintain a directory of VTOC scan collection data set control records |
VSCAN_DPRI=nn | Specifies the primary allocation size of the VTOC scan collection data set directory, in cylinders |
VSCAN_DSEC=nn | Specifies the secondary allocation size of the VTOC scan collection data set directory, in cylinders |
VSCAN_DUNIT=xxxxxxxx | Specifies the unit of the VTOC scan collection data set directory |
VSCAN_DVOL=volume | Specifies the volume of the VTOC scan collection data set directory |
VSCAN_MNTSK=nn | Specifies the minimum number of tasks (TCBs) used by the VTOC Scan to perform the collection |
VSCAN_MXTSK=nn | Specifies the maximum number of tasks (TCBs) used by the VTOC Scan to perform the collection |
VSCAN_OCOMP=YES | NO | Y | N | Indicates whether VTOC Scan should compress collection data sets |

VSCAN_REFDD=YES | NO | Y | N | For a KSDS data component, specifies whether VTOC Scan should obtain the more recent last reference date from the data and index components. Note: An increase in VTOC Scan elapsed and CPU time might occur, depending on the number of KSDS data sets that are being processed. |
VSCAN_REFDI=YES | NO | Y | N | For a KSDS index component, specifies whether VTOC Scan should obtain the more recent last reference date from the data and index components. Note: An increase in VTOC Scan elapsed and CPU time might occur, depending on the number of multivolume data sets that are being processed. |
VSCAN_REFDM=YES | NO | Y | N | For a data set on a secondary volume, specifies whether VTOC Scan should obtain the more recent last reference date from the secondary volume and the primary volume. Note: An increase in VTOC Scan elapsed and CPU time might occur, depending on the number of multivolume data sets that are being processed. |
VSCAN_RUSEA=YES | Specifies whether data set statistical record reuse should be attempted by non-master VTOC Scans and by the AUTODS process with HIST=NO The keyword must be set to YES, and VSCAN_RUSEV must be met to attempt data set statistical record reuse. |
VSCAN_RUSEM=YES | Specifies whether data set statistical record reuse should be attempted by master VTOC Scans |
VSCAN_RUSEV=nnnnn | Specifies the number of volumes that must be collected before attempting data set statistical record reuse on non-master VTOC Scans |
