Active recall automation (HSMRQUE)

The HSMRQUE function permits automation that is based on user-defined thresholds and arbitrary time intervals that can:
  • Issue an alert

  • Cancel a DFSMShsm recall request that has been requested on the local system and is not currently executing

After a one-minute interval, the HSMRQUE function is triggered and examines each element of the recall queue file. The recall queue file includes information about each recall that was requested from DFSMShsm but not yet executed (successfully or not). After examination, rule lists and actions are taken accordingly.

HSMRQ_SCOPE is the SMMSYSxx system parameter that defines the scope of the HSMRQUE function. HSMRQ_SCOPE permits the inclusion of pending recalls that originated on all systems, a local system only, or none (which is equivalent to the function being inactive).
