Enabling BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker for Smart IT
As an administrator, you can enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker for Smart IT. BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker is an add-on offering for BMC Helix ITSM that provides:
- Collaborated and automated incident brokering to address some of the service management challenges faced when using services from multiple cloud providers.
- DevOps integration features to enable DevOps teams to integrate their agile development tools for better collaboration.
To enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker for Smart IT on premise
To use Smart IT with BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker you must enable the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider. As a Smart IT administrator, perform the following steps:
- Log in to Smart IT as an administrator.
- Click Configuration and select Admin Console Configuration.
- Click and select Configuration.
- In the Providers table, select the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider check box.
Click Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider to update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider settings:
Field Description mcsm:password Enter the BMC Helix Platform tenant admin password. mcsm.host Enter the BMC Helix Platform host name provided to you by BMC. mcsm.protocol Enter https. mcsm.username Enter the BMC Helix Platform administrator user name. mcsm.port Enter 443. Note: For the https protocol, if 443 does not work, enter -1. Important
Enter the user name and the password of your tenant administrator account.
- Click Update Settings and the click Reload Providers.
To enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker for PWA screens in Smart IT
To use BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker with the Progressive Web Application (PWA) screens in Smart IT, you must configure the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker application settings in BMC Helix ITSM.
Important
In this release, the following issue was observed after you enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker for PWA screens:
- When you click any link to the vendor ticket in the activity notes of a brokered incident or work order (PWA), the vendor ticket does not open.
As a BMC Helix ITSM application administrator, perform the following steps:
- In BMC Helix ITSM, on the IT Home Page, select Administrator Console > Application Administration Console.
- Click the Custom Configuration tab.
- In the Application Settings, click Helix Multi Cloud Service Management > Integration > Application Configuration.
Click Open to update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management connection settings:
Field Description Host Enter the BMC Helix Platform server host name. User Name Enter the BMC Helix Platform tenant administrator user name. Password Enter the BMC Helix Platform tenant admin password. Port Enter one of the following values: - For the https protocol, enter 443. If 443 does not work, enter -1.
- For the http protocol, enter 8008.
Protocol Enter http or https. - Click Search.
If the configuration is not done correctly or if you have entered incorrect values in any of the fields, the following error is displayed: Error retrieving MCSM data, please contact your administrator.
After you have configured BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker application settings, you can view the information from BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker in brokered tickets (PWA) in Smart IT.
To update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management password
If you change the password for BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management, you must also change the password in Smart IT and in BMC Helix ITSM (for PWA). As a Smart ITadministrator, perform the following steps:
- Log in to Smart IT as an administrator.
- Click Configuration and select Admin Console Configuration.
- Click and select Configuration.
- In the Providers table, update the password for the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider.
- Click Update Settings and the click Reload Providers.
