Rule Based Asset classes

The following table lists the out-of-the-box Rule Based Asset classes that are defined on CI classes. A Rule Based Asset class inherits attributes of the CI class based on which it has been created. In addition, a Rule Based Asset class contains the Asset Age, Asset Birthdate, and Asset Status attributes. For more information about these attributes, see BMC_BaseElement.

Stores information about desktop assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Desktop.  This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Desktop. Conversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Desktop are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Desktop

Primary Capability = Desktop
BMC_HubBMC_ComputerSystem

Stores information about hub assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Hub. This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Hub. Conversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Hub are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Hub

BMC_LaptopBMC_ComputerSystem

Stores information about laptop assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Laptop. This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Laptop. Conversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Laptop are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Laptop

BMC_RouterBMC_ComputerSystem

Stores information about router assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Router. This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Router. Conversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Router are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Router

Stores information about server assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Server. This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Server. onversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Server are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Server

Stores information about switch assets.

This Asset Class is an out-of-the-box, rule based asset class mapped to the CI class BMC_ComputerSystem where the Primary Capability field contains Switch. This means that any CIs created with these values are automatically categorized as an Asset with an Asset Class of Switch. Conversely, this also means that any records assigned to the Asset Class of Switch are also automatically assigned as CIs with a CI class of BMC_ComputerSystem CI and a Primary Capability of Switch
