BMC_BaseElement

BMC_BaseElement is at the top of the inheritance tree for configuration item (CI) and asset classes. Attributes of this class are inherited by all CI and asset classes.

Asset #Text (254)The tag number of the physical entity represented by the CI or asset instance.
Asset AgeFormula (Number)

Indicates the age of an asset by calculating the difference between the current date and the asset birthdate.

Note: This attribute is available only for instances of the CI and Asset, Asset, and Rule-Based Asset classes.

Asset BirthdateDate/Time

Indicates the date when an asset’s age starts being tracked. This date can be entered or automatically calculated based upon the rules defined by the system  administrator.

Note: This attribute is available only for instances of the CI and Asset, Asset, and Rule-Based Asset classes.

Asset StatusPicklist

The status of the asset. The following options are available:

  • None
  • On Order
  • on Order - Back Ordered
  • Discovered
  • Reserved
  • Shipped
  • Received
  • Deployed
  • In Repair
  • In Stock - Available
  • In Stock -Reserved
  • In Stock -Defective
  • Retired - Disposed
  • Retired - Donated
  • Retired - Sold
  • Missing - Lost
  • Missing - Stolen

Note: This attribute is available only for instances of the CI and Asset, Asset, and Rule-Based Asset classes.

Is CloudBoolean

Indicates that a CI is hosted in the cloud which could be a public or a private cloud. The CI will usually have a relationship to a BMC_CloudInstance CI that represents the cloud service on which the CI depends or is delivered by. It is a simple attribute which enables simpler searching and provides a clear indicator on the CI of it's cloud nature.

The status of the CI. The following options are available:

  • None
  • Being Assembled
  • Deployed
  • In Repair
  • Down
  • Decommissioned

Note: This attribute is available only for instances of the CI and Asset, and CI classes.

Class NameFormula (Text)The name of the class to which the CI or asset instance belongs.
DescriptionText Area (255)A textual description of the CI or asset instance.
Instance NameText (254) (Unique Case Sensitive)The name of the CI or asset instance.
LocationLookup (Base Element)The location of the CI or asset instance, such as a building, floor, conference room, or office cubicle.
Mark As DeletedCheck boxSpecifies whether the CI or asset instance is soft deleted.
Model ManufacturerFormula (Text)

The organization that produced the entity represented by the CI or asset instance.

This attribute automatically displays the manufacturer that is defined in the model that is applied to the CI or asset instance.

Note: If you are upgrading from version 20.15.02 (Spring 15) or earlier, the Manufacturer Name attribute (data type: Text) is displayed in the Instance Editor. When you enable creation of models, the Model Manufacturer attribute (data type: Formula) is displayed in the Instance Editor. System administrators can optionally remove the Manufacturer Name attribute from the Instance Editor by configuring the Base Element field set of the Base Element object. Model NameLookup (Model)

The model that is applied to the CI or asset instance to standardize specific attribute values.

Note: If you are upgrading from version 20.15.02 (Spring 15) or earlier, the Model attribute (data type: Text) is displayed in the Instance Editor. When you enable creation of models, the Model Name attribute (data type: Lookup) is displayed in the Instance Editor for using the models. System administrators can optionally remove the Model attribute from the Instance Editor by configuring the Base Element field set of the Base Element object. For more information, Enabling models.

NotesLong Text Area (32000)The general notes about the CI or asset instance in diary format.
Primary ClientLookup (User)The primary client linked to the CI or asset instance.
PriorityPicklist

The customer-assigned priority for the CI or asset instance. The following options are provided:

Serial #Text (254)The manufacturer-allocated number that identifies the physical entity represented by the CI or asset instance.
Short DescriptionText (254)

A short textual description of the CI or asset instance. You can configure the CMDB Explorer to display the short description to quickly view information about the CI or asset instance.

SiteText (255)Specifies the site information.
StagePicklist

Specifies the stages of a CI or asset instance. The following options are provided:

  • Requirements
  • Defined
  • Analyzed
  • Approved
  • Chartered
  • Designed
  • Developed
  • Build
  • Tested
  • Released
  • Operational
  • Published
  • Unpublished
  • Retired
SupportedPicklist

Specifies whether technical support is provided for this class. The following options are provided:

  • Yes
  • No
  • N/A
Supported ByLookup (User)User who is responsible for supporting the CI or asset instances. This user can be contacted if there is an issue with the CI or asset instance.
Token IdText (254)The unique identifier populated by any discovery application.
Version NumberText (254)The internal, full-resolution version number of the CI or asset instance.
Warranty Exp DateDate/TimeThe date of which the warranty expires for the CI or asset instance.
