Updating multiple configuration items for a class

On the Remedyforce CMDB tab, you can edit multiple configuration items from the list view. For example, for a particular CI, you can edit any field that is available on the General tab of a particular CI. The fields on the Specifications tab that are specific to a particular class are also available to edit.

To update multiple configuration items for a class

  1. Click the Remedyforce CMDB tab.
  2. In the left pane, click the class for which you want to update the CIs.
  3. Click CMDB_class_edit.gif.

For the custom CMDB classes, CMDB_class_edit.gif is enabled. However, for the out-of-the-box CMDB classes, it is enabled or disabled based on your permission to edit the class:

    • If you have the permission to edit the selected out-of-the-box CMDB class, CMDB_class_edit.gif is enabled. Otherwise, it is disabled.
    • If you have the permission to edit the selected out-of-the-box CMDB class (parent class), but do not have the permission to edit any of its subclasses (child classes), CMDB_class_edit.gif is disabled.
    • If you do not have the permission to edit the selected out-of-the-box CMDB class (parent class), but have the permission to edit any of its subclasses (child classes), CMDB_class_edit.gif is disabled for the parent class and is enabled for those child classes for which you have the edit permissions.
  4. (Optional) To update a specific field value for multiple CIs, perform the following actions:
