Configuring the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure monitor type

This topic provides information about configuring PATROL for Oracle Cloud Monitoring.

Before you configure the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure monitor type, see the Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as the selected monitor type, the Add Monitor Types dialog box enables you to configure details for connecting to the accounts and services provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. For more information, see Defining a monitoring policy.

Field

Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Configuration

Account Name

Specify the account name, which is a user-defined name and not necessarily the OCI account name.

This helps to identify OCI monitor instances under the PATROL Agent device.

Tenancy OCID

Specify the Tenancy ID for the account.

The tenancy OCID looks something like this (look for the word "tenancy" in it):

ocid1.tenancy.oc1..<unique_ID>

For more information, see Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

User OCID

Specify the user ID for the account.  This is a unique identifier.

For more information, see Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

API Key Fingerprint

Specify the API key fingerprint for the public key that was added to this user.

For more information, see Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

API Key File path

Specify the API key full path and filename of the private key.

For more information, see Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

Home Region

Enter the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure home region. ( This is not for region filtering)

For more information, see Prerequisites-for-configuring-OCI-monitoring.

Administration

Device Mapping

Device mapping is enabled by default and devices are created for each monitored compute instance on the Monitoring > Devices page. It saves you extra clicks to navigate the PATROL Agent hierarchy while viewing monitoring results.

JVM Arguments

Type the additional Java Virtual Machine arguments for the Java collector.

For example: For java memory settings: -Xms256m -Xmx1024m

Enable Debug

Select the check-box to enable debug. Log files are created in the <PATROL_HOME>/OCI directory on the PATROL Agent server.

For example: RemoteCollector-<PATROL_AGENT_PORT>-<environment name>OCI

Object Filtering

Region Filter Type

Select your required Oracle regions to be included or excluded from monitoring.

Region Filter

Enter the list of the regions that you want to include or exclude from monitoring. This is regex supported.

Select Services (Compartment monitored by default)

Select any of the following services that you want to monitor:

  • Compute Instances
  • Block Volumes
  • Kubernetes
  • File Systems
  • Mount Targets
  • Object Storage

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
