Renaming the meter

Proceed with caution

If you change the hostname after the meter has been running and sending data, a new server will be added. All measurements collected thereafter will be associated to the new name after this change.

Update the meter configuration file to edit the hostname for your server. If this setting is empty, the Meter uses auto-detection to get the host name from the operating system.

To change the hostname

Do one of the following:

  • Edit the meter configuration file and update the hostname setting.
    For instance, hostname":"ubuntu-14-2

  • Alternatively, use the truesight -meter command to update the hostname:
    truesight -meter -l update -N <New_Meter_Name>

Note

You must restart the meter after editing the configuration file. For more information, see Starting-stopping-and-restarting-the-meter.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
