Installing iCap distributed alarms

This topic was edited by a BMC Contributor and has not been approved.  More information.

iCap ships distributed alarms in HLQ.BBACTDEF. To use the alarms, you must add them to the alarm-definition file system. Use the following procedure.

To install distributed alarms

  1. Concatenate the BBACTDEF library to your iCap master PAS.

  2. In iCap, type ALRMDIST on the COMMAND line and press Enter.

The ALRMDIST view lists the iCap distributed alarms:

For a list of alarms, see Descriptions of distributed alarms.

  3. To install new alarms or reinstall existing alarms:

    1. Type A or ADD in the CMD column beside each alarm that you want to install or reinstall.

    2. (If reinstalling alarms) Specify REPLACE YES.

    3. Press Enter.

  4. In PLEXMGR, access the AMD view.
On AMD, you can review all of the alarms that are installed for iCap.

If needed, you can use MainView Alarm Management to customize the distributed alarm definitions to meet your monitoring needs; you can also create your own alarms by using the MAKEAlarm line command. For more information, see Using MainView Alarm Management. Open link

  5. To activate an alarm, type ACT in the CMD field next to the alarm name.

    Note

If the iCap master PAS moves to a new system, you must make provisions to use the distributed alarms.
