This section explains how to upgrade BMC HR Case Management to version 4.7 and to 4.7.01, and includes the following topics:

Upgrading BMC HR Case Management

The following topics provide procedures how to upgrade BMC HR Case Management to 4.7 or 4.7.01 as part of different deployment use cases:

To upgrade BMC HR Case Management as a part of simple deployment use caseA simple deployment includes a BMC Remedy Action Request System Server, BMC Remedy Smart Reporting, BMC MyIT, and BMC HR Case Management. To upgrade BMC HR Case Management as part of simple deployment, perform the following actions: 

  1. Upgrade the platform components to versions compatible with the version of BMC HR Case Management you intend to upgrade to:
    1. Upgrade BMC Remedy AR System Server
    2. Upgrade BMC Remedy Mid Tier
    3. Upgrade BMC Remedy Smart Reporting
  2. Upgrade BMC HR Case Management to a desired version: 4.7 or 4.7.01.

    Note

    If you do not intend to use the BMC Remedy dashboards that are available in BMC HR Case Management 4.7 and 4.7.01, skip step 3.

  3. Upgrade BMC MyIT to a recommended version.
  4. (Optional) Upgrade BMC Remedy Single Sign On to a recommended version.
  5. Import the BMC HR Case Management reports contents into BMC Remedy Smart Reporting. For more information, see Configuring-integration-with-BMC-Remedy-Smart-Reporting.

To upgrade BMC HR Case Management as a part of deployment with BMC Remedy IT Service Management

To upgrade BMC HR Case Management as part of the deployment with BMC Remedy ITSM (BMC Remedy Action Request System, BMC Remedy Mid Tier, BMC Remedy Smart Reporting, BMC Remedy ITSM, BMC HR Case Management, and BMC MyIT), perform the following steps:

These steps are applicable for both integration types with ITSM—local and remote.

  1. Upgrade the platform components to versions compatible with the version of BMC HR Case Management you intend to upgrade to:
    1. Upgrade BMC Remedy AR System Server
    2. Upgrade BMC Remedy Mid Tier
    3. Upgrade BMC Remedy Smart Reporting
  2. Upgrade the system components to versions compatible with the version of BMC HR Case Management you intend to upgrade to:
    1. Upgrade BMC Remedy IT Service Management
    2. Upgrade BMC HR Case Management to a version 4.7 or 4.7.01
    3. Upgrade BMC MyIT
    4. Upgrade BMC Remedy Single Sign-On
  3. Perform post-upgrade procedures:

    1. Import the BMC Remedy Smart Reporting content to be able to import BMC HR Case Management reports. For more information, see Configuring-integration-with-BMC-Remedy-Smart-Reporting.
    2. Run Auto Synchronization job to synchronize BMC HR Case Management users with BMC Remedy IT Service Management. For more information, see Synchronizing users between BMC HR Case Management and BMC Remedy ITSM.

      Note

      When the Auto Synchronization job runs, all users that had been manually synchronized before the upgrade, and have the parameters that are used in the Auto Synchronization job filters, become Standard Viewers with the license configured in the auto synchronization job.

    3. In BMC HR Case Management, manually update Case Login details for users (for more details on Case Login details, see Adding Case Login Details for users) that must have:

      • Standard Administrator, Standard Master, or Standard User roles in BMC HR Case Management
      • Other license than the one configured in the Auto Synchronization job.
