Enabling cognitive search in fields
To use a BMC Helix Platform data set for cognitive search in your application or the BMC Helix Chatbot, you must enable cognitive search on the fields that hold data in a record definition and then select the fields in the record definition.

Supported field types for cognitive search
You can enable cognitive search for the following field types:
- Text fields
- Attachment fields that contain Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, plain text, or HTML files.
Before you begin
- Configuring a service provider for cognitive search
- Create a BMC Helix Platform data set. For information on this process, see Defining search data sets.
To enable cognitive search in record definition fields
- Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
- Select the BMC Helix Chatbot or custom application for which you want to enable cognitive search.
- In the application, click Records, and open the record definition in which you want to select the searchable fields.
- In the Details pane, in the Search section, select the Enable Cognitive Search check box as shown in the following image:
Click Add/Remove Search Fields.
The Add/Remove Search Fields window is displayed as shown in the following image:In the Add/Remove Search Fields dialog box, click Add Search Fields.
On the Add/Remove Search Fields page, from the Field list, select all the fields that you want to mark as searchable, and click Save.
Note
Only text-based, attachment, and non-system fields can be marked as searchable.
- In the Details pane, in the Title Field list, select the field that represents the title of the record definition.
For example, you can select Summary because the text entered in this field is more likely to represent the title. - Click Save.
