Configuring a metric profile

To add the required metric to a metric profile

  1. In Administration > DATA WAREHOUSE > Metric profiles > metricprofileName, select the System metrics or Business Driver metrics tab.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Add metric box page, select the following:
    • Select the required System driver type or Business driver type.
    • Select the required Metric.
    • Select the required level for the new metric.
  4. Click Save.

To manage the filters for a metric profile

Select the following filters to filter the metrics displayed for adding to the metric profile:

  • System / Business Driver type - Select the System or Business Driver type on which the metrics should be sorted.
  • Level - Select the level. The metric level defines the amount of metric imported into the data warehouse. If you increase the level, additional load is added to the data warehouse while decreasing the metric level reduces the number of imported metrics.

    Warning

If the metric level is not properly configured, you may lose data.

  • Visualization Mode - Select if all metrics should be displayed or only a subset of metrics based on the Global profile.

To change the data retention policy for a metric profile by changing the aging class mapping

You can use the Aging Class mapping tab to change the data retention policy for a metric profile by changing the mapping of metric profile level with the data warehouse aging class.

  1. In Administration > DATA WAREHOUSE > Metric profiles > metricprofileName, select the Aging Class mapping tab.
  2. Select one or more Metric profile level, and click Change Aging Class.
  3. Select the level of the Aging class from the Change aging dialog and click Proceed.
  4. The aging level mapping for the selected Metric profile(s) are updated.

Following is the Aging Class mapping for Global profile:

LevelAging Class mapping
[1] EssentialLong
[2] BasicLong
[3] StandardMedium
[4] ExtendedShort

To exclude the extraction of subresources for BY metrics of a metric profile

You can define a blacklist rule to exclude subresources for a BY metric or group of BY metrics of a metric profile. The blacklisted subresources will not be extracted when you run an ETL that uses the metric profile with the blacklist rule. This saves the available storage space.

  1. In Administration > DATA WAREHOUSE > Metric profiles > metricprofileName, select the Subresource blacklist tab.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Add subresource blacklist rule page, enter the following details.

    FieldDescription
    Metric selection

Select any one of the following options:

    • select metrics: Enables you to blacklist subresources for multiple metrics by selecting them.
      • Metrics for: Select the required metric type (Business Driver and System) from the drop-down list. Metrics in the Available items list of the Metric field are listed according the selected option.
      • Metric: Click Edit and select the required metrics from the Available items table and add them to the Selected items table using the >> button. In the Selected items table, select the required metric and click << to remove the selected metric. Click Apply.
    • specify a starting with condition: Select this option to blacklist subresources for a group of metrics by using the wildcard character.
      • Metric starting with: Type the starting keyword of the BY metric for which you want to blacklist subresources. For example, BYDSTORE_READ.
SubresourcesType the name of the required subresources to be blacklisted. You can also type the keyword for the subresource and use wildcard character (*) for the subresources that start with, contains or end with the entered keyword. Use comma separated values for blacklisting multiple subresources of a metric.
  4. Click Save.
The blacklist rule is added and the subresources in the blacklist rule will be excluded when the ETL that uses this metric profile is executed.
