Managing users and access control

BMC Helix Capacity Optimization leverages Helix Single Sign-On to provide single sign-on authentication for users. In the Helix Single Sign-On console, you can create users and user groups, and modify this user information. After creating user groups, you can associate them with authorization profiles, which enables role-based authorization for the features in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard. The Helix Capacity Optimization Console enables you to manage user authorization and role-based access control (RBAC) using roles and access groups.

Some default user groups and roles are available out-of-the-box when you subscribe to BMC Helix Capacity Optimization. For details, see Default user groups and roles.

To manage users and access control, you must do the following:

  1. Set up users and user groups in Helix Single Sign-On console to authorize your users to log in to Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard and Helix Capacity Optimization Console.
  2. Configure user roles and access groups to control user access to specific entities, such as domains, report groups, or data sets in the Helix Capacity Optimization Console.

  3. Create authorization profiles and roles to control user access to view specific features, such as capacity views in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard.

To log in to these consoles, use the URLs and credentials that you received in the welcome email. For details, see Product environment details.
