Collecting data

BMC Helix Capacity Optimization provides two ways of collecting data for supporting BMC Helix Capacity Optimization use cases:

Connectors or ETL modulesCapacity Agents

Connectors can integrate with various data sources by means of ETL modules, that are based on Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) technology.

For more information, see Overview of ETLs.

By leveraging the Gateway Server, operating system data is collected from managed nodes that are running capacity agents.

For more information, see Collecting data via Capacity Agents.

Collecting data for business services

For business service details to be displayed on the BMC Helix Capacity Optimization pages, you must first import the data related to your business services into the Capacity Optimization database. For more information, see Collecting data for business services, applications, and service pools.
