Using the Quick analysis tool

The Quick analysis tool enables you to rapidly inspect time series on both systems and business drivers of a specific domain or domain group. It can be useful to identify problems or periods of interest that can be isolated for more detailed examination.

The following video (2:59) illustrates the process of adding and managing time series using the quick analysis tool.

To access the quick analysis tool

Perform one of the following actions:

  • Click Quick analysis in the detail page of a domain, system, or business driver.
  • Click Add series next to a resource metric displayed in the Metrics tab of the detail page for a system or business driver.

To add metric series to a quick analysis

Depending on how you access the quick analysis tool, initially there may be no metric series to analyze. To add one or more series to a quick analysis, follow these steps:

  1. Click Add series.
  2. Locate the desired metric series, specifying the following parameters:
    • Domain: Select the desired domain.
    • Resource: Select the system or business driver to be inspected.
    • Metric: Select the time series.
    • Subresource: If the metric is an aggregate, select the subresource; otherwise, the default value will be used (for example, GLOBAL).
    • Location: If none is present, the default value will be used (for example, UNKNOWN).
  3. Click Add series.

The list of all added series is displayed at the top of the page.

Note

To add more time series, repeat the procedure or perform a search and click Add series  next to a resource metric in the list of search results.

To view the results of a quick analysis

If data is available, a graph is automatically displayed.

To change the resolution or the time filter for the analysis, use the time filter selector located at the top of the analysis chart.

To edit a quick analysis

To modify the output settings, follow these steps:

  1. Click Edit.
  2. Modify the available settings. For more information, see Editing an analysis.
  3. Click Save.

The chart will be refreshed automatically according to the new settings.

To remove metric series from a quick analysis

  • Click the  icon next to the name of a series; or
  • Click Remove all series to remove them all and start over.

To permanently store a quick analysis

  1. Click Save.
  2. Provide the required details:
    • Domain
    • Name
    • (Optional) Description
  3. Click Save.
