Getting started with Views

Filtering options | To focus on a specific set of your data, you can filter the data in the page based on the domain, applied tags, and time period. Some views might have additional filters. Subview tabs | The landing page of most of the views contains subviews that provide details about specific entities. For example, the vSphere Infrastructure view page shows data for clusters, resource pools, and other entities in separate subviews. | Access a subview page by clicking the corresponding tab. |
Subsystem tabs | Some of the subview pages of views further categorize the data based on subsystems or resources. For example, the Clusters subview page in the vSphere Infrastructure view shows data for capacity, CPU, memory, and storage under separate tabs. | Access a subsystem page by clicking the corresponding tab. |
Table action menu | This action menu is displayed only when the view page contains data in a tabular format. The action menu contains the following options: Show/Hide Columns: Some of the columns of the table are hidden by default. This option enables you to display or hide the optional columns of the table. Information Whenever you log on to the Views tab, your optional column preferences are preserved. Export to Excel: Enables you to save the table as a Microsoft Excel file. Only the columns that are displayed are exported to the file. | Managing charts and tables in Views |
View page content | Displays data in a tabular format, as different types of charts that display statistical information, or in a tree map format. Table format: You can change the order of your data by sorting the table. You can modify the number of rows or records that can be displayed at a time in the table. The records in the table are listed across pages. You can easily navigate to a specific page to view the records on that page. Chart format: You can download and save them in various formats, annotate the charts and print them. Tree map format: Hierarchical data is displayed in size and color-coded graphical representation (similar to a heatmap) and you can drill down into the entities for further details. | |
Entity hyperlink | To view details of an entity, you can click the Entity hyperlink and open the corresponding details page. For example, in Containers > Kubernetes > Clusters > Capacity page, click a cluster link in the Cluster column to view its details in the Cluster Details page. | - |
Search icon | Find systems in a specific view or across all views by filtering out systems based on your search string. In the Search Results page, you can perform a global search across all the out-of-the-box views or select a specific view. You can then view the details of a system by clicking the system name or access the corresponding view by clicking the view name. | - |
