22.3.01

Updates to the What-if simulation for business services

The following enhancements are added to the What-if simulation for business services:

Resources table to view current and resized hardware configuration

Use the Resources table to view the hardware configuration of systems in the infrastructure that hosts the selected business service. In case of recommended or manual resizing, the table displays a summary of all the resized resources for which the simulation is generated.

Charts for pools to view resource utilization

With interactive charts for pools in the Infrastructure table, view the resource utilization and analyze the bottlenecks to avoid the risk of saturation.

Option to specify a custom forecast period

As a service owner, use the Edit timeline option to specify a custom forecast period and to override the global setting configured by the administrator.

For more information, see Creating a What-if simulation for business services and viewing the simulation results

The following image highlights these enhancements: Edit Timeline option, Resources section, and interactive charts for pools.

Send events for future saturation alerts

Use the Create Events for Future Saturation option in Optimizer rules to send future saturation alerts to BMC Helix Operations Management.

For more information, see Adding a template-based Optimizer rule and Adding a custom Optimizer rule.

View timestamp for the peak value of a statistic in a custom view

View the timestamp when the statistic reaches its peak value for the first time in a specified period in a custom view. You can configure this setting by using the include_statistic_ts property in a summary data mart for the MIN, MAX, and PCTX statistics. For more information, see Using the advanced editor of the summary data mart wizard.

Import additional metrics for Moviri – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus Extractor

Use Moviri – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus Extractor to import the MEM_RSS, BYCONT_MEM_RSS, and BYCONT_IMAGE_MEM_RSS metrics for pod workloads. For more information, see Moviri – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus Extractor.

What-if simulation to predict the growth of resources in a business service

Use the What-if simulation to predict the behavior and analyze the capacity of resources for a business service based on the associated business drivers. Simulate different growth scenarios of business drivers for a future date in the forecast period, and use the simulation results to identify the bottlenecks and capacity issues in the business service. Based on the results, you can resize the infrastructure of the business service to remediate a saturation risk. For more information, see Creating a What-if simulation for business services and viewing the simulation results.

The following image displays the predictions for eCommerce business service with correlated business drivers. You can simulate different growth scenarios and resize the infrastructure accordingly.

Time forecasting plugin in BMC Helix Dashboards

Use the new time forecasting plug-in available in BMC Helix Dashboards to visualize the time series data from BMC Helix Continuous Optimization. You can select a period of prediction and show or hide the confidence bands. For more information, see Using BMC Helix Dashboards.

Support for data marts in BMC Helix Dashboards

Create a custom dashboard in BMC Helix Dashboards by using the BMC Helix Continuous Optimization data mart. Use this dashboard to analyze the capacity-specific parameters. For more information, see Using BMC Helix Dashboards.

Automated saturation forecasting of business driver resources

BMC Helix Continuous Optimization automatically predicts the saturation of system resources of a business driver that is associated with a business service. On the business driver details page, view these saturation details to plan and update the capacity-specific parameters. For more information, see Analyzing business services.

Data vs. Baseline condition type in custom optimizer rules

Create custom optimizer rules based on the Data vs. Baseline condition type along with other condition types, such as the Data vs. Threshold or Formula condition types. Additionally, the Monitor Violations condition type is renamed to Good/Warn/Poor Samples Count. For more information, see Adding a custom Optimizer rule.

Namespaces for analysis and models

You can select a namespace for a metric while creating an analysis and a time forecasting model. For more information, see the following topics:

Moviri Cloudera REST ETL

Use the Moviri - Cloudera REST ETL to collect data from the Cloudera Manager that is hosted on a cloud. For more information, see Moviri - Cloudera REST Extractor.

Support for AIX 7.3 operating system

AIX 7.3 operating system is supported for the Continuous Optimization Agents. For a complete list of supported operating systems, see System requirements for the Continuous Optimization Agent.
