Asset integration overview
Asset management can be integrated into FootPrints to enable auto-discovery of PC assets, network management, and software deployment using FootPrints Asset Core (or BMC Client Management [BCM]) and thus providing detailed, up-to-the-minute PC hardware and software identification.
You can integrate BCM data with FootPrints CMDBs, service portfolios, and workspaces (Service Desks). From FootPrints, agents can search BCM databases and then import asset data into their tickets. In addition, agents can view snapshots of users' configurations and save the information in the ticket record.
The following table identifies which releases of Asset Core and BCM are supported for releases of FootPrints.
FootPrints Release | Asset Core Release | BCM | |
10.x | 11.x | 12.x | |
10.x | Yes | Yes | No |
11.x | Yes1 | Yes | Yes |
12.x | No | 11.7 or later | Yes |
1 Financial Asset Management data will be blank in FootPrints because this feature was introduced in FootPrints Asset Core 10.0.
Note
“FootPrints Asset Core” identifies all product versions released prior to version 12. For version 12, the product was rebranded as “BMC Client Management”. “BCM” is used to reference all versions of the product supported in FootPrints.
For details on configuring BCM, see Integrating BMC Client Management with FootPrints.
