Changing process, group, or user priority

Use the following procedure to change process priority.

1. Use the ps command from an xterm window to find the appropriate process, group, or user ID of which you want to change priority.
2. Access the PROCESS application menus as described in Accessing KM Commands and InfoBoxes.
3. Choose the appropriate menu command:
   

   1. The Renice Group Menu

   2. The Renice Process Menu

   3. The Renice User Menu

4. Enter the ID number in the Enter xxx ID field, where xxx represents either the process, group, or user.
5. Enter an integer value for the amount you want to decrease the priority in the Enter Priority field of the dialog box.
6. The larger the number you enter, the lower the priority of the process. For example, if you want to decrease the priority from 8 to 10, type a value of +2 in the Enter Priority field.
7. Click Apply. 

The process priority is decreased to a lower level.
