What's new

Improved data security by using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.10 supports AES encryption capability of the BMC PATROL Agent version 10.0.00. For information about Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) implementation in PATROL Agent, see PATROL Agent documentation.

Perform Data Collector version updated to 10.5.00

The minimum required version of the BMC PATROL Perform Data Collector (bgscollect) is 10.5.00.0112.

The Data Collection Manager (DCM) executable version in the default image of BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux version 9.13.10 is 10.5.00.6046.

Added support for Ubuntu 16.04 platform

BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.10 supports Ubuntu 16.04 platform.

Downloading the installation utility and the Service Pack

This section provides the information that you need to download and install the Service Pack from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

To download the installation utility and Service Pack from the EPD website

Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.
Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.
Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
You can download the installation utility and the Service Pack using either of the following methods:
- Using Component View
- Using Licensed Products View

Using Component View

In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
Click Go.
In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
In the Version: list, select 10.5.00, and click Go.
In the Products tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
- Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
- Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
  This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
Click to close the window.
In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux.
Click Go.
In the right pane, click BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux.
In the Version: list, select 9.13.10, and click Go.

Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms:

To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:

Using Licensed Products View

In the View: field select Licensed Products.
Locate BMC TrueSight Operations Management Suite and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
Expand BMC TrueSight Operations Management Suite 10.5.00 to show the available components.
Expand BMC PATROL Installation Utility 10.5.00 and BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00 to show the available files.

Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms.
