To upgrade TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine

Do the following:

  1. Log in as an administrator (Windows) or a root user (Linux) to the computer where you want to upgrade the Report Engine.
  2. Take a backup of the BMC_PROACTIVENET_REPORTENGINE_HOME  directory.
  3. (Windows only) Take a backup the %SystemRoot%\ProductRegistry.xml and %SystemRoot%\ProductRegistry.xsd files.
  4. Stop the Report Engine service.
    If you are upgrading multiple Report Engines that use a single database, stop the Report Engine service for all Report Engines.
  5. Close all open instances of the Report Engine.
  6. Close all the running applications, folders, and command prompts that are related to TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine.
  7. (Optional) By default, the Report Engine is upgraded with AES 256-bit encryption key size. If you want to change the default AES encryption size to 128-bit, set the following environment variable:
    AES_ENCRYPTION_KEY_SIZE=128.
  8. Navigate to the Reports/ReportEngine/<platformfolder, where <platformis Linux or Windows.
    If you are upgrading multiple Report Engines that use a single database, upgrade all Report Engines one at a time.
    In an environment with a single Report Engine, you can first upgrade the Report Engine and then install multiple instances of the Report Engine by using the same database that you used while upgrading the Report Engine.

  9. Do one of the following according to your platform:

    • For Windows, double-click ReportEngine<version>_bbuildNumber.exe
    • For Linux, at the command line, run the command: ReportEngine<version>_b<buildnumber>.bin

      Note

      • If there is not enough space in the temporary directory, the system prompts you to select an alternate directory. On UNIX-based computers, you can set the IATEMPDIR environment variable to an alternate directory that has enough space.
      • For Linux installations, the installation file supports only the graphical user interface (GUI) mode and not the console or silent mode.
