To allow a user without administrative right to edit CIs in Impact Model Designer, perform the following steps:

Creating a user without administrative rights in BMC AR Server

To create a user without administrative rights, perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to BMC AR Server.
  2. Click File > Open > Object List and search for the Groups form.
  3. Create a new group, and enter a name for the new group in the Group Name field. For example, enter IMD.
  4. Select the Change option in the Group Type field.
  5. Enter a long name for the group in the Long Group Name field. For eg, enter Impact Model Designer.
  6. Select the Computed option in the Group Category field.
  7. Add BPPM Model Administrators to the Group Definition field as shown in the following figure:

8. Save the form.

Editing the CMDB Data Change All AR role

To edit the CMDB Data Change All AR role, perform the following steps:

  1. In BMC Remedy AR System, click File > Open > Object List and search for Roles.
  2. In the Roles dialog box, search for the CMDB Data Change All role as shown in the following figure:


3. Open the CMDB Data Change All form.

4. Select the group created in step 3 to the Production field.

Creating a BMC Remedy AR System user who has membership to only the BPPM Model Administrators group

To create an AR user with only BPPM Model Administrators group membership, perform the following steps:

  1. Click File > Open > Object List and search for the User form.
  2. Create a new user as shown in the following figure
    .

3. Add BPPM Model Administrator to the Group List field.

4. Click OK and save the form.

5. Again, open the created user form you just created and verify that the group is present under the Computed groups list.

Importing and overwriting the PN:Groups form in CMDB

You must download the PN_Groups.def file located at: ftp://ftp.bmc.com/pub/BPPM/PATCHES/IMD/. Download and save the definitions file  on your local system. To import the file perform the following steps:

  1. Launch the BMC Remedy Developer Studio tool and log on to BMC Atrium CMDB, where the form needs to be imported.
  2. Click File > Import > Object Definitions as shown in the following figure:

3. Select the AR server to which you want to import the file. Click Next.

4. Select the definition file to be imported and click Next.

5. Select the Replace Objects on the Destination Server check box as shown in the following figure:

6. Click Finish to import the definition file.

7.Restart the Midtier and AR Server and log on with the new user ID.
