You can drill-down to any application from the Applications page and view details of that application.

To view the details of an application

  1. In the TrueSight console, click Monitoring > Applications.
  2. To view the application details on the Application Monitoring page, use one of the following methods:
    1. Click an application name.
    2. Right click an application and select Open link in new tab
    3. Right click an application and select Open link in new window

The availability of some features depends on the data providers in your environment.

  • (App Visibility Manager) To see the Application View tab, your system must include TrueSight App Visibility Manager.
  • (Infrastructure Management) To see the Events, Devices, and Services tabs, your system must include  TrueSight Infrastructure Management Open link .

The Application Monitoring page contains the details and information described in the following table.

to perform root-cause analysis on events in the application.

Automatic

Indicates whether the application model was automatically generated (Yes), or manually created in the TrueSight console (No)

For information about the different kinds of application models, see Application models.

Importance

Importance of the application in your network

Set the importance when you create an application, or modify an automatically discovered application.

Severity

Current severity of the events in the application or the application's devices

For information about the severity levels, see Viewing the health of applications in your network.

Open Events

(Infrastructure Management) Number of events associated with the application

The total number of events is the sum of the number of events in the open, acknowledged, and assigned states. Click a number to display event details on the Events tab. For more information about events, see  Monitoring and managing events from the TrueSight console Open link .

Devices

(Infrastructure Management) Number of devices associated with the application

Devices can also be a part of a group. The total number of devices displayed might not be a sum of the devices in the different states because a device can have events in different statuses. Click a number to display device details on the Devices tab. For more information about devices, see  Monitoring devices from the TrueSight console Open link .

Click the Collapse/Expand Summary icon / to display or hide the application summary.

Synthetic Health tab

(Synthetic Monitor) For applications with synthetic transaction monitoring enabled, you can investigate the status of the synthetic transaction executions to identify and diagnose application issues.

If synthetic monitoring is enabled for a manually created application, the Synthetic Health tab opens by default.

Application View tab

(App Visibility Manager) For applications that are automatically discovered, and manual applications with synthetic transaction monitoring, you can investigate problems with application performance and availability and drill down to application diagnostics.

If the application is automatically generated, the Application View tab opens by default.

Note:

Close an Application Management server event only from the Applications View tab. Closing an App Visibility event from the events tab results in a mismatch between the number of Open Events (under Application Summary section) and the displayed events list. When you close the App Visibility events from the events tab, the events get closed only in the console view and not from the Application Management server.

For information about the Application View, see Investigating severity and impact of application issues.

Model tab

Examine your network's application models to pinpoint the exact impact area in an application and drill down to each node and find its status.

If the application is manually created and synthetic monitoring is not enabled, the Model tab opens by default

For information about application models, see Viewing an application model.

Events Open link tab

(Infrastructure Management) Examine all the events associated with the application as a snapshot of the Events view.

Devices Open link   tab

(Infrastructure Management) Examine all the devices associated with the application as a snapshot of the Devices view.

Services Open link   tab

(Infrastructure Management) Examine all the services associated with the application as a snapshot of the Services view. You can associate an application to a service.

For information about services, see Monitoring services from the TrueSight console Open link .
