When you create or modify a dashboard, select and configure the Application Health - Synthetic dashlet to display key performance indicators based on defined SLAs for applications with synthetic executions that are monitored by App Visibility Manager. You can see the following metrics:

  • Availability Errors
  • Latency Violations
  • Impacted Executions
  • Number of Executions

This topic presents the following information about this dashlet:

Understanding the dashlet data

The Application Health - Synthetic dashlet provides a view of the health of an application based on the results of synthetic executions. It displays basic metrics and a summary of the application's status based on defined SLAs.

The following image is an example of the Application Health - Synthetic dashlet:

Application Health - Synthetic dashlet

A single instance of the dashlet displays four graphs of key performance indicators over time, as follows:

Percentage of availability errors for synthetic executions on the application

Percentage of synthetic executions that violate the defined latency threshold

Percentage of total synthetic executions on the application with errors and latency violations

Total number of synthetic executions for the application

The dashlet shows data for the time period that you select in the dashboard global filter.

The upper part of the dashlet displays the following general information about the application:

  • Name of the application
  • Current severity of the events on the application (OK, warning, or critical)
  • Number and percentage of total impacted executions for the entire displayed time frame

Each data point represents a five-minute aggregation of data. This means that if an error occurs in the first minute of the five-minutes, the error is not displayed here until the five minutes are complete.

Viewing tooltips over data points in the graph

Hover over a point in any graph to see the the value and time at that point.

Zooming in to a specific time frame

Drag horizontally over one of the graphs to zoom in to a specific time frame within that graph. To return to the standard view, click Show all in the upper-right side of the graph.

Drilling down to the Application View

Click on any data point on any graph to see details in the Application View for the application at the selected time.

Dashlet requirements

The Application Health - Synthetic dashlet requires an application that has synthetic monitoring enabled.

When you configure your dashboard, you can select an application. Or, if you did not select an application at the dashboard level, when you configure the dashlet, you select an application.

Configuring the dashlet

You configure this dashlet when you add or edit a dashboard Open link .

  1. In the dashboard, click Add Dashlet and select the Application Health-Synthetic dashlet.
  2. Click the Configure Dashlet  icon.

  3. (Optional) Enter a descriptive Title for the dashlet.
  4. To choose an Application , click Select to open a list of applications that have synthetic monitoring enabled in App Visibility.
After you configure the dashlet for the first time, click Change to change the selected application.

    Note

If you select an application in the dashboard Global Filter, it overrides the application selection at the dashlet level.

  5. Select the height of the dashlet row: 3X or  4X.
The value of X is approximately 100 pixels. The default height is 4X, which is optimum for seeing all of the data properly.
