Execution log results provide deep diagnostics for you to examine issues in the session. Execution log results are downloaded in a zip file that contains the results of the transaction. The file is retrieved from the BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent and it contains the results of transactions (such as TINIT and TMAIN) in execution log files and text files.
This topic describes the management and contents of execution logs:
Drill down from the Applications View, into the Synthetic tier, through the Locations view, to the Executions view.
In the Executions view, from the action menu for a specific execution, select Execution Log.
The Execution Log dialog box displays the following details for the Execution Log:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Application Name | Name of the application to which the Execution Plan is assigned |
Execution Plan | Name of the Execution Plan being monitored |
Location | Name of the location to which the TEA Agent is assigned |
Execution Start Time | Time and date that the execution started |
Click Request Download to request the execution log.
The status of the execution log is shown as it is prepared for download. The following statuses are possible:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Waiting | The system is connecting to the TEA Agent. |
In Progress | The request is in progress. |
Retrying | The system cannot retrieve the file and tries to retrieve it again. |
Not Available | The system cannot retrieve the file.
|
Agent Not Online | The TEA Agent where the execution ran is not online. |
Failed | The system tried to download the file and failed. Click Request Download again to try again. |
When the file is ready, click Download to download the file.
When the download is complete, extract the ZIP file and enter the results-archive password.
The results-archive password is the one you entered during TEA Agent installation.
Note
The file name of the results archive is the time and date of execution in UTC time.
An execution log contains the results of a transaction, sent in a zip file from the synthetic TEA Agent. The zip file contains an execution log (.xlg) file, that is viewable with Silk TrueLog Explorer, and depending on the script definitions, it may contain other files such as .wrt files. Silk TrueLog Explorer is included with the software that you downloaded for BMC TrueSight Synthetic Monitor with Borland Silk Performer.
Notes
The zip file also contains a summary file, transaction_result.txt, that comprises a summary of the transaction results.
To preserve an execution log, ensure that you keep a downloaded copy on a local computer.
