Guidelines

Announcement Support for this product will end on November 3, 2025. We recommend that you use PATROL for Linux, PATROL for AIX, or PATROL for Solaris to monitor operating systems.

Viewing Memory Used by Filesystem Buffers and Cache

  1. Access the MEMORY application class to view its parameters.
  2. Open the MEMUsedBufCache parameter.
On a Solaris platform, this parameter reports a value correctly only when the kernel module, bunyip, is loaded on the system; otherwise this parameter reports the value as zero.

    Note

The MEMUsedBufCache parameter is not available on HP-UX and Solaris platforms in the PSL collection mode.

BMC PATROL displays a graph that shows the amount of real memory used by filesystem buffers and cache over time.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
