Activating data collection for the PRINTER application class

The PRINTER application class and its corresponding collector, PRINTERColl, are installed in an inactive state. They do not automatically gather information when loaded. For instructions on deactivating data collection for the PRINTER application class, see Deactivating-data-collection-for-the-PRINTER-application-class. The instructions in this topic tell you how to activate the PRINTER application class.

Use the same method to activate and deactivate application classes and their collectors. For example, if you use another method to activate the PRINTER application class (such as customizing it with a PATROL Developer Console), attempting to deactivate it with the menu command UNIX OS > Knowledge Module Admin > PRINTER application > Deactivate Monitoring, will fail.

To activate the PRINTER application class

  1. Access the UNIX OS application menu commands as described in Accessing-KM-Commands-and-InfoBoxes.
  2. Select Knowledge Module Admin > PRINTER application > Activate Monitoring.

PATROL begins collecting data for the application class.
