    This topic provides information about the enhancements and features introduced in BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00 and provides instructions for downloading the installation files.

    Tip

    Enhancements

    The following enhancements are available in BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00.

    Newly added parameters under existing application classes

    The following parameters are added in version 9.13.00 of BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux.

    Downloading the installation utility and the product files

    This section provides instructions for downloading BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00 from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

    If you have previously downloaded other BMC PATROL products, you might have an older version older version of the installation utility on your hard drive. BMC recommends that you use the latest version of Installation Utility, BMC Installation Utility 9.6.00. To download the latest version of the installation utility for this service pack, perform the following steps.

    This section provides the information that you need to download and install the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. To download the patch and installation utility from the EPD website, perform the following steps:

    1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

      Note

      On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

    2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
    3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
    4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
    5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
    6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
    7. You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
      Using Component View
      1. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
      2. Click Go.

      3. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.

      4. In the Version: list, select 9.6.00, and click Go.

      5. In the Products tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

      6. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
        • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
        • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
          This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
      7. Click <<Back to Product List.
      8. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux.
      9. Click Go.
      10. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux.
      11. In the Version: list, select 9.13.00, and click Go.

      12. In the Product tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

      13. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:

      14. Complete the installation procedure described in the Installing the patch section.
      Using Licensed Products View
      1. Click Go To Licensed Products View.
      2. Locate BMC Performance Manager for Servers and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
      3. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers 3.5.00 to show the available components.

      4. Expand BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.6.00 to show the available files.

        Note

         You can use BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.6.00 or later.

      5. Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms.

      7. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.

      9. Expand the BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00 component to show the available files.

      10. Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platform.
