After you install the basic components of the Operations Management system, you must identify the component systems as data providers to the Presentation Server. This registration process enables the Presentation Server to receive data from its component parts. You can register data providers as you add component systems, or when you finish adding all components.

Before you begin

You must have installed at least one Operations Management component, as described in Installing.

To connect an Infrastructure Management server

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components, select the action menu next to Components, and select Add Component.

  2. For the component type, select Infrastructure Management Server.

  3. Enter a valid Host Name or IP Address.

    Note

If the "Invalid Host Name or IP Address" message appears, re-enter a valid name or address. The name or address cannot start or end with a dash ( - ), contain any spaces, or exceed 63 characters.

  4. Select an HTTP or HTTPS protocol.
  5. Accept the default port number (443), or enter a new value.

  6. Select any of the listed tenants.
The list includes each tenant defined in the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On system.

  7. Enter a value between 1 to 10 minutes for the Initialization Timeout (min) period.
This is the time period that the Presentation Server tries to initialize a connection to the component. If the connection is not completed within the time period, the connection to the component will fail.

  8. Click Save.
