You use the Events page to view the current state of an event.

Log on to the BMC TrueSight Operations Management console and select MonitoringEvents.

The following illustration provides an overview of the information that you can view and the actions that you can perform through the Events page.

User goals and features

The Events page provides you the capabilities to address the following business goals:

Filter the list of events

Use the quick filters for event status and event severity to filter the list of events.

Use the time filter to filter events based on when they occurred.

Create your own custom filters for advanced filtering options; see Filtering events.

Search for particular events

To quickly find the event for which you are looking, search for the event .

For more information about the search behavior, see Searching for events.

If the event summary area reaches the maximum number of events it can display, you can refine the filter criteria that you have set or search for specific events.

View the events summary

View a summary of the events in the events table .

Customize the events table view by using the action menu to add or remove columns, change the column position, or change the column width.

Drill down and view event details

For detailed analysis and remediation, drill down into the Event Details page using the event action menu (10) or the event date and time link in the Occurred column for detailed information about each event.

Perform operations on events to change the status, priority, or ownership

Use the event action menu or the Event Details page to perform event operations.

To perform event operations on multiple events, use the check box, Ctrl-click (multiple, non-continuous events), or Shift-click (multiple, continuous events) to select events. Then use the multiple event action menu to perform an event operation.

The check box for events is not enabled by default. To enable this feature, see Customizing the Events page.

Customize the events view to suit my preferences

Customize the Events page to suit your needs through the Event Preferences menu . These settings are individual, user-based preferences and apply only to the Events page.

Quickly identify that new events are available

Get notified about new events through the notification icon , which flashes to indicate that new events are available. Up to 10 new events are displayed. Click the notification icon and select Load All Pending Events to load the new events in the events table.

Turn this feature on or off. See Customizing the Events page.

If the events notification feature is turned off, use the manual refresh icon  to manually refresh the events table.

Hide the quick filters to gain more display area for events

Use the collapse filters option to collapse the quick filters area.

Toggle between displaying and hiding the quick filters area by using this option.

Set the Events page as the default page when you log in to the Operations Management console

From the action menu , select Set As Landing Page.

Every time you log in to the Operations Management console, the Events page is displayed by default.

View help for the current page

Click the help icon to launch context-sensitive help.

By default, the online version of the documentation is displayed. You can also use an offline version of the documentation. For more information, see Setting user preferences.
