Port information

The following table lists standard port numbers (0 – 1023) and BMC suggested port numbers. An asterisk next to a port number indicates a custom-definable port. Ensure that the ports that you chose do not conflict with ports currently used in the environment.

Note

The following abbreviations are used in the tables:

  • Enterprise AR Mid tier = Web tier
  • Enterprise AR = Application tier
  • Atrium WS = Atrium web services
  • BAO = BMC Atrium Orchestrator
  • BPPM = BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management

Product integration port information

The following ports are the most commonly used ports for BMC Remedy ITSM applications and integrated product traffic. These port numbers are either the default port number when installing the software or the port number that is most commonly used for the specific type of traffic. Most of these port numbers can be changed according to individual deployment requirements.

Encryption information

The following table shows which communications strings you can encrypt between the various components. HTTPS ports are web-based communications using SSL to encrypt, and TCP ports are all other ports whose port numbers are configurable and use DES encryption out of the box. These can be configured within the AR Server configuration settings on the Encryption tab. Set the New Encryption Settings - Security Policy option to Required, and set Data Key Details - Algorithm Options to DES. DES encryption can also be upgraded to use more advanced encryption algorithms via the Performance (128 bit) and Premium (256 bit) upgrade packages.

    Hi BMC,

These ports seems wrong to me
According to my knowledge, default ports are
    BAO - CDP 7070
    Mid-Tier - HTTP - 8080
    Mid-Tier - HTTPS - 8443
    Atrium Web Registry - HTTP - 8080

      Hi Wallace,

Thank you for proof-reading our topics! I don't know how those Mid Tier and Atrium Web Registry port numbers slipped through the cracks. Running through the 8.1 Atrium Web Services installation again, I decided to add Atrium Web Registry HTTPS (7776) to the table.

      But let me verify BAO.

      Thanks again.

      John

      Hi Wallace,

Regarding the BAO - CDP port, a colleague says:

      • Default port for BAO CDP, Access Manager, and repository (version 7.6.02.x) is 8080. [JS: I changed it in the table.]
      • For the latest BAO version 7.7, we have replaced Access Manager with Atrium SSO and the default ports are:
        • Repository: 28080
        • CDP: 38080

She says you can see some information here: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/baop76/Installation+worksheets

Does that sound right to you?

    Atrium SSO?

    1. Bruce Cane

      I'll find out for you.

Atrium port information can be found here: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/ac81/BMC+Atrium+Core+ports.

Does this page have the information that you need?

No - the Atrium page has nothing regarding SSO.

      Hi Michael,

SSO ports are discussed in the following topic in the SSO online docs:

      https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/sso81/Installing+additional+nodes+for+an+HA+cluster+on+a+new+Tomcat+server

LDAP port number (8091), LDAP replication port (8092), LDAP administration port (8093), default Tomcat server HTTP port number (8080), HTTPS port number (8443), and Shutdown port number (8005)

      Thanks,

      Hemant

That kind of defeats the purpose of having a single point where all the ports are listed (smile)

Perhaps we just nee a central page that points to where the port information is stored rather than placing the ports on this page for a typical ITSM environment (which obviously includes SSO, Atrium, etc)

          Hi Michael,

You are absolutely correct. Well if you see not much related to SSO is included in the ITSM space currently. Currently, we are working on complete overhaul of installation and upgrade documentation and I will consider and will incorporate you feedback. It will take some time to roll out the changes but then yes we are working towards it.

Thank you so much for your comments. You have just validated the problem we are trying to solve. Really appreciate your suggestions. Please keep commenting (smile)

          Thanks,

          Hemant
