The BMC Application Performance Management Console (Console), which you access by using a compatible browser, is the main user interface. The Console consists of tabs and a main section. Menus are displayed on the left. Console messages (such as success or error messages) are displayed beneath the menu.

BMC Application Performance Management Console

The following tabs provide access to the Console features:

  • Home — key information, links, news about the product, and the launching points for other components.
  • Application Monitoring — interface for monitoring your web applications: dashboards, application Watchpoints, and Performance Analytics query controls.

    This tab is not available when logged on to the Console with Access Manager permission.
  • Diagnostics — interface for setting up integration with BMC Application Diagnostics product. This tab is visible when BMC Application Diagnostics component product is integrated in the Console.

  • System Deployment — interface for managing components, system updates, and integrations.

    This tab is not available when logged on to the Console with Access Manager or Observer permission.

  • System Access — interface for managing access to the Console, security policies, and system tenants.

    This tab is not available when logged on to the Console with Application Owner or Observer permission.

In the top right corner, the interface displays the following elements:

  • User name of the current user. Click it to open the User settings page, which displays your account settings (user name, role, and authentication method). On this page, you can change your password or update your email address.
  • Logout button to end a session.
  • Help button that opens the Documentation portal in a secondary browser window.

Scroll button

If all the panels within a carousel are not visible within your browser window, use the scroll button to pan left and right.

Action menu


Action menu (expanded)

When you place the pointer over the Action menu, it displays the options available as menu commands on the current page. The example shows the options for the Administration page.

Shortcut menu

Shortcut menus show options for a particular page element, such as edit, delete, and so on.

Drag-and-drop handle

Click the drag-and-drop handle and drag its object to a new location:

  • Rows within a dashboard
  • Dashlets within a row
  • Dashlets from one row to another
  • Dashlets to the the dashboard

Enabled and clickable

This switch indicates that the element is enabled. Click the switch to disable the element.

Disabled and clickable

This switch indicates that the element is disabled. Click the switch to enable the element.

Enabled and not clickable

This switch indicates that the element is enabled. The switch is not clickable because your role does not permit you to change it.

Launching point

Use launch points on the Home page to access Analyzer features. Each connected Analyzer instance has a launch point.

Note: Only users logged on with Export or Access Manager permission cannot access the Real User Analyzer from the BMC Application Performance Management Console.

To access Collector features, follow links on the Component Management > Status page.
