This section provides information about installing the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting product.

For hardware and software requirements for BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting, see Hardware and operating system requirements for BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting. For supported versions and system requirements, see System requirements.

BMC recommends that you install the components of BMC TrueSight Operations Management Reporting in the following sequence:

  1. Install BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. (BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management supports both Sybase and Oracle Database.)
  2. Install Reporting database. 

    • Install Oracle database. BMC recommends that you have a dedicated computer for Oracle Database and a dedicated Oracle instance for BMC TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine.

    • Install Microsoft SQL Server database.

      Note

      Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server are not part of the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Suite. It has to be procured by the customers.

       

  3. Install BMC Reporting Foundation (SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.1 SP3 Patch 3) on a separate computer. BMC recommends that you have a dedicated computer for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.
  4. Install BMC TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine version 10.0.00 on a separate computer. BMC recommends that you have a dedicated computer for BMC TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine.

    Note

    One installation of BMC TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine supports only one BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server.

  1. Why isn't there a link for every step shown in the diagram? It's frustrating to see a box indicating a necessary step, but no details on how to perform that step.

    Also, why does the decision fork regarding the location of the Reporting Database in relation to the SAP BusinessObjects tell us to install the Reporting Database on the same computer as the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise component if we haven't already done so?

    We're using an Oracle RAC for the Reporting DB, so obviously I'm not going to install the RAC on the Windows server I'm using as the SAP BusinessObjects host.

    Highly confusing documentation.
