To verify successful completion of a typical installation of the product, confirm that the following conditions exist:

To verify that the product services are running

Depending on your platform, perform one of the following actions:

  • Windows: Navigate to Start > Run > services.msc and verify that all of the product services corresponding to the features selected have started.
  • Linux: Navigate to the $BMC_ITDA_HOME/services/bin directory and run the status command.

For more information about the product services and running the status command, see Starting or stopping product services.

Note

When you run the installation program, if you do not specify that product services be run immediately after installation, you will need to start them manually.

To verify that the product console is working properly

  1. Open a supported browser.
    For more information, see System requirements.
  2. Access the product on the computer or virtual machine where you installed it.

  3. Verify that the product console is displayed, and log on with credentials listed in the following table.

    By default, the users listed in the following table are already created with default credentials when you install the product.

  4. Verify that the Search tab is displayed.
  5. Navigate to the Administration > Component tab to verify that the following components are up and running (they appear in the green state):
    • Search 
    • Console Server
    • Indexer
    • Configuration Database
    • Collection Station

After you verify that the typical product installation is successful, continue with Configuring after installation.

Start data collection immediately after installation, by making the following configurations:

  • (Optional) Create Data patterns to define how the data collected must be indexed and displayed
  • Create data collectors to define the type of data to be collected and how it must be collected, and to start the data-collection process
