BTW, why is the table text truncated and one has to scroll to the right to see all the text?

The table width is very wide and when the page isn't large enough to display the width, the scroll bar allows for scrolling to the right.
You can close the left navigation pane using the Collapse left column icon to the right of the page title. This gives you more space for the page display.
